Plugged Heat Exchanger
This a a plugged heat exchanger!
When your secondary heat exchanger plugs... The flame on the left is no longer being drawn" through the heat exchanger by the venter motor and instead takes the path of least resistance and travels back into the furnace vestibule/housing. This can be a very dangerous situation and should not be ignored. A plugged heat exchanger will set your furnace off, on reset/lockout, it can present itself by a fowl odor both at the furnace and outside at the vent while running and abnormal fuel consumption because your furnace losses a great deal of its efficiency resulting in longer and more frequent heating cycles. This particular furnace was installed by a local company and is only 5 years old. It was not installed properly and resulted in replacement
